Patrick Mahomes Kindly Gives a Ride to a Woman Stuck in the Rain, Next Day, Miracles Continue to Happen to Him
It was a late, rainy night in a quiet town, the kind of night that most people would rather stay inside, warm and dry. Patrick Mahomes, the NFL superstar, had just finished a long, exhausting day. His evening had been filled with press conferences, training, and meetings, but now, as he drove through the slick roads, he was eager to get home to his family. He navigated his car down the empty streets, his thoughts still lingering on the game he had played earlier that week, when something unusual caught his attention.
As he approached a bend in the road, his headlights illuminated a figure standing by the side of the road. A woman. Soaked to the bone, her thin jacket clinging to her, she raised one hand in a hesitant wave. Patrick’s heart softened at the sight of her. He could tell that she wasn’t just stranded; she was desperate for help. Despite the instinct that warned him to drive on—after all, who knew what could go wrong when a man like him stopped to help a stranger—Patrick felt a pull to do what was right.
The rain came down harder as Patrick pulled his car to the side of the road. His windshield wipers worked overtime, clearing the sheets of rain, but the road was nearly deserted, making the situation feel even more isolated. He took a deep breath, knowing that sometimes, doing the right thing wasn’t always easy, especially when the world was watching.
The woman hesitated for a second, as if unsure whether to trust him, but when he leaned over and opened the door, she climbed in without a word, her hands shaking.
“Thank you,” she murmured, wrapping her arms around herself to shield from the cold.
Patrick gave her a small towel he kept in the glove compartment. “Ain’t much, but it’s dry,” he said, offering a quiet smile.
The woman, still clearly in shock, dabbed at her face with the towel before glancing over at him. “I’m Rachel,” she said softly.
“Patrick,” he replied, his voice calm and steady. “Where you headed?”
She hesitated before answering. “Somerville Avenue… a friend’s place.”
The answer seemed odd to Patrick, but he didn’t push. Instead, he turned the car around and set off toward her destination. They rode in silence for a while, the soft hum of the engine and the rain tapping against the windows the only sounds filling the car.
“Do you always pick up strangers in the middle of the night?” Rachel finally asked, breaking the silence.
Patrick chuckled lightly. “Not usually. But tonight, I felt like you needed help.”
Rachel gave a small, thoughtful nod. “Not many people would stop, you know?”
Patrick’s grip on the wheel tightened just slightly. He’d seen the kind of treatment people of his background got—especially when they were trying to do something good. But there was something different about Rachel. She didn’t seem to judge him for his skin color or his fame, she simply needed help.
For a moment, Patrick thought about sharing his own story. How he had grown up with nothing but a dream of making it to the NFL, how he’d made it through years of struggle and hard work to get where he was now. But he didn’t want to turn the conversation back to himself.
Instead, Rachel spoke again, her voice softer. “I lost my mom a few years ago,” she said quietly. “It’s just been me since then. I guess… life’s just been tough.”
Patrick’s heart went out to her. He knew what it was like to lose someone who meant everything to you. He glanced over at her, the vulnerability in her voice making him want to protect her from whatever was weighing her down.
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Patrick said, his voice genuine.
They continued driving in silence, the weight of the conversation hanging in the air. After a few moments, Rachel broke the silence again, this time with a question that caught Patrick off guard.
“So, what’s it like, being… you?” she asked, her tone almost shy now. “Being famous.”
Patrick took a deep breath before answering. “It’s a blessing and a curse. You work hard to get to the top, but once you’re there, you realize people don’t always see you as a person anymore. They see you as a prize, or an achievement. It gets lonely sometimes.”
Rachel nodded slowly, a quiet understanding passing between them. “I get that,” she whispered.
The rain had started to lighten up, and after a few more minutes of driving, Patrick slowed down as they approached the corner of Somerville Avenue.
“You sure you don’t want me to drop you off closer?” Patrick asked.
Rachel shook her head. “This is fine.” She hesitated for a moment, then added, “Thank you, really. For everything.”
Patrick smiled. “It was no problem.”
Rachel reached for the door handle, but paused. She turned to look at him, her eyes serious. “I’ve never been one to let people get close, but there’s something about you. You didn’t ask for anything in return. You didn’t look at me like I was some kind of problem. That means a lot.”
Patrick was taken aback. He’d helped many people before, but hearing Rachel’s words made him realize how rare that was. Most people didn’t expect anything from him because of who he was, but Rachel saw him as a person first.
Before she stepped out of the car, she offered a final, grateful smile. “Take care, Patrick.”
“You too, Rachel,” he replied, watching as she disappeared into the night.
The next morning, Patrick was jolted out of sleep by a loud sound—the unmistakable roar of a helicopter. He sat up, groggy, trying to shake the remnants of sleep, but then he heard it again. The deep, thunderous hum echoed through his house. He stumbled to the window and was stunned by the sight. A black helicopter hovered over his yard, its searchlight cutting through the morning mist.
Before he could process what was happening, there was a sharp knock at the door.
His heart raced, and every instinct told him something wasn’t right. He opened the door cautiously, only to be met by a tall man in a suit, flanked by three others.
“Mr. Mahomes?” the man asked, his voice smooth and controlled.
Patrick’s mind raced as he took in the scene—the men, the helicopter, the expensive suits.
“I’m James Holloway,” the man said, “and I represent Ms. Rachel Brooks. She’d like to see you.”
Patrick blinked, stunned. Rachel? The woman he had helped the night before?
“Ms. Brooks is waiting for you,” Holloway added, gesturing toward the helicopter.
Confused, Patrick nodded. “Give me a minute.”
Moments later, Patrick found himself in the helicopter, flying high above the town that had once been his escape. Rachel, now dressed in a sleek outfit, sat across from him, looking completely different from the woman he had helped just hours ago.
“Welcome,” Rachel said with a smile. “I knew we’d meet again.”
Patrick was speechless, unsure of what to make of the situation. “What is this?”
Rachel smiled, crossing her legs. “An opportunity. A chance for something more.”
Patrick sat back, still processing the whirlwind that had unfolded. In one night, his life had taken a turn he never expected. The simple act of kindness had opened doors to something bigger, something life-changing. But as he looked at Rachel, he realized that sometimes, the universe gives you a chance when you least expect it—if you’re willing to accept it.

Although the couple’s children weren’t at the Monday Night Football game, Brittany, 29, cheered Patrick on the sidelines.
The Kansas City Current co-owner posted a photo of her Britney Spears-inspired ensemble on Instagram. She wore Chiefs-red leather pants and a matching jacket—reminiscent of the leather catsuit Spears, 42, wore in her “Oops! I Did It Again” music video in 2000.
Sterling previously helped kick off the 2024-2024 NFL season when she attended the first two games at the Kansas City Arrowhead Stadium. Sterling joined her younger brother at the Chiefs v. Cincinnati Bengals game on Sept. 15, in which the Chiefs defeated the Bengals 26 – 25.
Brittany also brought Sterling along to the Chiefs’ season-opening game on Thursday, Sept. 5, between the Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens. The Chiefs won 27 – 20.
Days before Monday’s game, Brittany posted a few snaps of her and Patrick’s toddlers embracing the spooky season in her Friday, Oct. 4 Instagram Stories.

In one snap, Bronze smiled as he sat on a set of stairs in what appeared to be a park playground area. For his outdoor adventure, the little boy wore a cute T-shirt featuring Mickey Mouse, brown shorts, black and white striped socks and black Adidas sneakers.
“Big park guy. Big Mickey guy,” Brittany wrote over the photo.
