Despite that being clear, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy had to point out the obvious too.
During his press conference on Wednesday, Nagy said.
“When Patrick Mahomes has a clean pocket, he can be deadly with the deep ball.
Says coaches need to do a better job of ensuring that he has a clean pocket.”

Chiefs News: Matt Nagy Makes Boneheaded Comment About Patrick Mahomes.
Nagy’s comment makes it seem like he thinks Chiefs fans, and heck, even NFL fans, are dumb.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that a good offensive line will help a quarterback play better.
As it pertains to Mahomes, Chiefs fans have seen how well he plays behind a great or even an above-average offensive line.
Mahomes certainly hasn’t had either of those levels of play this season.
and that’s part of the reason why he is having trouble connecting on any level passes, including deep balls.
In the clip posted above, Mahomes looks comfortable under center during the 2022 season.
That led to him being more confident and decisive in his reads.
Meanwhile, this season, Mahomes appeared to be rushing his throws, leading to more inaccuracy.
A lot of that has to do with all the hits he’s been taking this year.
While Nagy’s comments come off as tone-deaf, it shouldn’t surprise anybody.
This is the same guy who said, “.
I know we need to run the ball more.
I’m not an idiot,” after the Bears only ran in seven times in a game.
when he was a head coach. Clearly, Nagy is as unaware now as he was then of the obvious.
Nevertheless, the most important thing for the Chiefs remains finding a way to protect Mahomes.
