Katy Perry’s Ex Russell Brand Blasts Justin Trudeau Romance: “I Was OK with Orlando Bloom”
Russell Brand isn’t holding back his thoughts on ex-wife Katy Perry’s reported new romance.
The British comedian took a swipe at Perry’s alleged relationship with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau while speaking on stage at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix on December 18. Brand joked that he was perfectly fine with Perry’s longtime former fiancé, Orlando Bloom—but drew the line at Trudeau.

“Look, Katy Perry—I was married to her. I still love her, and I’m glad her mom is in the room hearing me say this,” Brand told the audience. “But look, I was okay with Orlando Bloom. But Justin Trudeau? Come on, man,” he added, prompting laughter and applause.
Brand continued with a jab, saying, “Don’t put me in a category with that guy,” before criticizing Trudeau as a “globalist stooge.”
Brand was married to Perry from 2010 to 2012, a split that became infamous after Perry revealed he asked for a divorce via text message. The emotional aftermath of their breakup was later shown in her Katy Perry: Part of Me documentary, which captured the singer crying backstage moments before a major concert performance.
Perry later met Orlando Bloom at a Golden Globes after-party. The two became engaged in 2019 before announcing their split earlier this year. They share a five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.

Dating rumors between Perry and Trudeau first surfaced over the summer. The pair went Instagram official in December, with Perry sharing affectionate photos from a recent trip to Japan.
Brand married his current wife, Laura, in 2017, and the couple share two daughters. In April, the 50-year-old comedian was charged in the UK with five counts of sexual assault involving multiple women, with allegations dating back more than two decades. Brand has denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty.
