Few figures in the WNBA have any inkling of the type of fame that Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark deals with.
Any former Iowa Hawkeye icon is surely hounded by fans wherever she goes, and can’t get a moment’s rest in public.
Although one WNBA player who can relate to that feeling is Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner.
Not only is Griner 6’9″ tall, but her storied basketball career and time spent detained in Russia turned her into one of the most recognizable faces in all of sports.
Which is why hearing Griner discuss the struggles that comes with Clark’s fame hits especially hard.

Prior to Friday’s Mercury vs. Fever game, Griner said of Clark, “I can only imagine what it’s like for her.
“She probably can’t even go to the grocery store and get her own groceries. I’ve experienced that before, and it’s a lot,” Griner continued, per Yahoo! sports.
It’s shocking to hear that Griner (who surely also must interact with fans constantly) can only imagine that Clark is going through.
Not to mention that Clark is so nice that she’s never turn down a photo opportunity.
Being a superstar is not easy work by any means.
