Meghan Markle’s Estranged Father Finally Receives Her Letter After Leg Amputation

After days of conflicting reports about whether Meghan Markle had reached out to her estranged father, the Duchess of Sussex has successfully delivered a personal letter to his bedside.

Meghan Markle Emailed Dad Thomas Markle After Amputation amid No Contact Claims

On December 10, a spokesperson for Meghan confirmed that, “With the support of reliable and trusted contacts, her correspondence is now safely in his hands.”

Thomas Markle, 81, is currently recovering in a hospital in the Philippines after undergoing a serious lower-leg amputation. In recent days, he publicly questioned whether his daughter had contacted him at all—creating confusion between his statements and those from Meghan’s team.

According to Meghan’s spokesperson, the Duchess emailed her father on December 5 after learning of his operation. However, The Mail on Sunday reported that Thomas was “confused,” insisting he had not received any message. People magazine reported that Meghan had personally called multiple hospitals in an effort to locate him, while her team also contacted people close to Thomas to determine the safest and most reliable way to reach him during his recovery.

Despite those efforts, Thomas continued to publicly claim he had not received communication.

In an exclusive interview published December 6, he said, “I don’t want to die estranged,” expressing a strong desire to meet his grandchildren—Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet—as well as Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry—before it is “too late.”

Thomas’s operation follows years of significant health challenges, including a stroke in 2022. His doctors emphasized the seriousness of this latest medical crisis, telling The Mail on Sunday that the surgery was a “life-or-death” situation.
Had the infection in his foot spread to his heart, they warned, the outcome could have been fatal. While he is reportedly doing well, he is “not out of the woods yet.”

A Long, Painful Rift

Meghan explained that palace officials had offered to help suppress the story, but warned that using that influence could compromise their ability to protect their future children one day.
