Nick Wright Calls Out Geno Auriemma For ‘Horribly Aged’ Caitlin Clark Take

Fox Sports analyst Nick Wright calls out UConn women’s head coach Geno Auriemma

A few months back, when the Indiana Fever were struggling and off to a 1-8 start, UConn women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma appeared on the Dan Patrick Show and talked about rookie Caitlin Clark, and his remarks aged horribly.

“This kid’s on the wrong team; she’s got the wrong skillset to handle the physicality in the league, and she’s a rookie. This rookie class isn’t even one of the best classes in the last ten years. She’s just not built for the physicality of this league.” Auriemma said on the Dan Patrick Show

Fast forward to today; Clark and the Fever are 18-16 overall, clinched a playoff berth, and she is coming off back-to-back player of the week honors and just won player of the month.

The Fever have rallied off five straight victories and have won seven out of their last eight games. She is the glaring and heavy favorite to win rookie of the year and potentially make an All-WNBA team in just her first season.

This week, Fox Sports analyst Nick Wright resurfaced those comments made by Auriemma and called him out for his bold take on the former Iowa star.

“Geno just say you’re a UCONN guy, and you thought this was gonna be Paige and instead it’s Caitlin” Wright said.

Clark, over her last eight games, has been the second-best player in the WNBA to Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson. Clark is averaging 24.5 points, 9.1 assists, and 5.6 rebounds since returning from the Olympic hiatus.

She leads all rookies in points, assists, steals, field goals made, three pointers made, free throw percentage, and true shooting percentage. No matter how you look at it and try to sway it, Caitlin Clark has been unreal in every facet of the word on the basketball court this season.
