Brad Marchand Notices an Elderly Woman Selling Decorations in the Cold, and His Act Will Melt Your Heart! Brad Marchand, known for his kindness and determination both on and off the court, wasn’t content to just walk away. Instead, he did something unexpected and heart warming.
Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand is no stranger to showing heart, but his recent gesture off the ice has people talking for all the right reasons. While walking through a local market on a frosty evening, Marchand noticed an elderly woman bundled up against the cold, selling handmade holiday decorations. Despite the weather, her determination to make a sale was evident, and her cheerful smile masked the physical toll of braving the elements.
Instead of walking past, Marchand stopped to chat with her, learning her name was Edith. She explained that she made the decorations herself to supplement her income and bring joy to her community. Touched by her story, Marchand wasn’t content to just buy a decoration and move on. He purchased her entire inventory on the spot, ensuring she wouldn’t have to stand out in the cold any longer.

But Marchand didn’t stop there. The next day, he returned with a team of Bruins staff and surprised Edith with a gift card to cover her winter expenses, a brand-new heater, and tickets to an upcoming Bruins game. “No one should have to endure this kind of cold just to make ends meet,” he told her, expressing his admiration for her hard work and resilience.
The heartwarming moment didn’t go unnoticed by the community. Passersby who witnessed Marchand’s act of kindness shared the story on social media, praising him for using his platform to help someone in need.
For Edith, the day ended with more than just warmth—it gave her a renewed sense of hope and connection. And for Marchand, it was another opportunity to show that true leadership extends beyond the rink. Sometimes, it’s the smallest gestures that make the biggest difference.
Brad Marchand Makes Bruins History After Hitting Impressive Milestone
Brad Marchand has been a fantastic player for the Boston Bruins, and now, he joins elite company in Bruins after accomplishing an impressive feat in year 16 for the current Bruins captain.
Brad Marchand is a great leader for the Boston Bruins, with the 36-year old well into his 16th season with the team after being drafted way back in the third-round of the 2006 NHL Draft.
The future of the current Bruins captain is up in the air beyond 2024/25, but for now, he’s living in the moment, putting up an impressive two points and a +4 differential as the team picked up a much needed 6-3 win over the San Jose Sharks.
With that assist, Marchand joined some elite company in Bruins history, as he joined the likes of Ray Borque, Patrice Bergeron and Johnny Bucyk with 10-straight 20 assist seasons for the Bruins.

Brad Marchand became the eighth player in #NHLBruins history to record 10 straight 20-assist seasons. The others: Ray Bourque (21), Johnny Bucyk (20), Patrice Bergeron (15), David Krejci (14), Wayne Cashman (14), Rick Middleton (11), and Terry O’Reilly (10).
While there’s been some criticism of Marchand’s play this season, he’s got a solid 17 goals and 37 points in 48 games played, as he’s now fast approaching 1,000 career points after posting 966 in 1,077 games.
At 36-years of age, there’s questions about his future in Boston however, as he will hit free agency for the first time in eight years, and with the Bruins future up in the air given the lack of elite level prospects coming through the organization, it’s safe to say that whatever decision they do make on No. 63 could majorly define the future of this Original Six franchise.
