Edelman was one of Brady’s most reliable targets in the latter stages of his Patriots run
Since leaving the NFL, Julian Edelman and Tom Brady have maintained a close friendship, allowing the former New England Patriots wide receiver plenty of opportunities to poke fun at his Hall of Fame quarterback buddy.
Recently, in an interview with US Weekly, Edelman took a playful jab at Brady‘s communication skills, particularly his texting habits.
.
“I think he’s a little too old for texting,” Edelman quipped to US Weekly, likening Brady‘s texting style to that of a grandparent.
“You know when you teach your grandparents how to text and stuff? Maybe that’s what it is.”
He also suggested Brady often leaves messages on read without replying. Despite Brady‘s unresponsiveness, Edelman is certain he reads the messages.
“I know that he sees them.”
At almost 50, Brady seems to embrace the stereotype of a tech-challenged retiree, at least according to his longtime friend.
Edelman enjoys reuniting with Brady and Gronk post-retirement
Edelman also spoke about his appreciation for working alongside Brady and Rob Gronkowski in various post-retirement projects.
Describing the experience as “very special,” Edelman compared it to their time together on the Patriots.
“Now that they’re both retired, it feels very similar to when we were back playing,” he continued.
Watching Brady prepare for his new career as an NFL commentator and observing Gronkowski‘s approach to their podcast have inspired Edelman to push himself professionally.
“It makes me want to be better at my work,” he shared.
Beyond the nostalgia, Edelman values the lessons he’s learned from being around such driven people.
He emphasized the importance of surrounding oneself with “great people that do fundamentally great and solid things,” adding that working with Brady and Gronkowski pushes him to raise his own standards.
Edelman, Brady, and Gronkowski have spent the past months filming commercials together, rekindling the camaraderie they shared on the field.
