The Oval Office might be a step too far for the popular First Take pundit.

Stephen A. Smith was ridiculed for claiming he could run for President of the United States as the popular ESPN personality reacts to Donald Trump and the Republican’s victory over Kamala Harris and the Democrats.
The 78-year-old billionaire, who has been convicted of 34 felony counts, stunned the world once again by winning back the right to sit as the key figure of the White House.
He dominated the swing states and ended up claiming 295 electoral votes as well as 71m people in the popular vote to return to the presidency after a four year absence following the 2020 defeat to Joe Biden.
Despite a campaign widely decried as incoherent, lacking depth and courting extremism, that was still enough to convince Americans to pick him over a woman nominee for the second time in a row.
And in light of that, Smith hinted that he could even run for office to become the third TV personality to become president after Ronald Reagan served two terms in the 1980s and now Trump too.
“Let me say this, I have said this on many occasions. The answer would be “Hell no”, because I like my life – I’m living a pretty good life,” Smith told ABC. “But I must confess, I wish I could debate some of these guys. I’d love to be on a debate stage with these guys with the presidency on the line.
“And I’m half joking, but I kinda mean it. I have no desire to be a congressional figure or a senator. But if you came to me and you told me I had a legitimate shot to win the presidency of the United States of America, I would definitely consider it.”
Fans react to Smith’s claims
Despite being popular in the NBA scene, as well as the few times he has gone viral on social media for debating matters such as Lightning McQueen vs. Strip Weathers from Pixar’s Cars film series, fans aren’t too keen on the idea of him as president.
That even comes in the wake of him appearing on Fox News to debate the Harris-Tim Walz campaign where he rattled Sean Hannity who seemed exasperated, whilst Smith sat looking smug, showing he could take his talents to politics if he wanted to.

A second added, “If that’s what it takes to get his dumb a** off ESPN all day then let’s f***ing do it.”
And a third wrote, “Stephen, I’m probably not the first to tell you this… but you’ve got no shot bro.”
