Connor McDavid Made a Remarkable Gesture on the Ice After Canada’s Victory, and We Have the Footage.
The best player in the world, Connor McDavid, has just added a solid achievement to his hockey resume. By winning the Four Nations Showdown and scoring his famous Golden Goal, it’s clear that this significantly enhances his track record.
However, McDavid has yet to get his hands on the Stanley Cup, and that will always remain a major blemish when discussing his excellence and career so far.
And he seems to know it.

A small gesture from Connor McDavid that’s making waves
As you probably already know, number 97 is an extremely superstitious person, much like Sidney Crosby, and it was evident during the celebrations on the ice in Boston after Team Canada’s victory.
As Marco Normandin wisely pointed out, Connor McDavid made a meaningful gesture at the Four Nations Showdown. Before going further, let’s revisit this absolutely incredible moment:
Even though McDavid was obviously thrilled with this victory, it quickly became clear that this is not his ultimate goal, and we can absolutely understand that.
‘When it came time to celebrate Canada’s victory by passing the trophy around, McDavid made a gesture that spoke volumes.Unlike the rest of his teammates, he never wanted to lift the trophy over his head.’
Marco Normandin, HABSolumentFan
You can also see in the video below that McDavid appears almost uncomfortable holding the trophy in his hands.
He only kept it for a few brief seconds before quickly handing it off to his teammate and MVP, Nathan MacKinnon.
Personally, I don’t dislike seeing this, it says a lot about him.
It almost seems like, even just minutes after scoring his overtime goal, he was already thinking ahead and telling himself that the job wasn’t finished yet.
A true competitor!
This is the same player who, last spring in Florida, didn’t return to the ice to accept his Conn Smythe Trophy.
It seems obvious.
Connor McDavid’s one and only goal is the Stanley Cup!
