Caitlin Clark’s Strong Message to Kelsey Mitchell Amid Free Agency

With the help of their WNBA All-Star trio of Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, the Indiana Fever had their best season since the great Tamika Catchings was still playing.

Even with their final record of 20-20, for a chunk of the final stretch of the season, the Fever enjoyed a winning record for the first time in over five years. Not to mention making their first playoff appearance in eight years.

On Monday, Mitchell took to social media to celebrate her 2024 season with 20 different pictures of her and teammates.

“I got low,” Mitchell captioned the post. “Shedded tears nobody saw. Got my back dirty just to make it. Threw all my cards on the table. Trusted GOD to save myself. Guaranteed my best. Willing and able, forever dying on my own sword.”

Clark, who joined Mitchell and Boston in Phoenix, Arizona, as a member of the 2024 WNBA All-Star team, left a comment on the above post.

“Proud of ya,” Clark said with a heart emoji.

Following the season’s conclusion for the Fever after a Game 2 loss to the Connecticut Sun in the first round of the WNBA Playoffs, Mitchell’s three-year, $618,000 contract has expired, making her a free agent.

The former Ohio State Buckeyes star should be a top priority for Indiana, as she was one of the veteran leaders of the team. In 2024, the 28-year-old averaged 19.2 points, tied with Clark for the most on the Fever, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
