Caitlin Clark Makes History In WNBA Return Against Phoenix Mercury

On Friday night, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever returned to action against the Phoenix Mercury following the WNBA break. The Fever took the first two games in the season series, and after a 98-89 win, they moved to 3-0.

Indiana got off to a hot start in the first quarter, jumping to a quick double-digit lead. Clark came out on fire, hitting a tough three-pointer and making two and-ones to start things off.

Not even through one quarter in her return, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star, once again, made WNBA history.

After making her second field goal of the game with 6:53 left in the first, Clark recorded her 450th point of the season. In doing so, she became the first rookie to record 450 or more points and 200 or more assists. Not only that, but Clark is only the sixth player to ever reach these numbers in a single season, according to StatMamba.

Clark adds to an already stellar resume from her rookie season. She received the most WNBA All-Star votes and broke the record for most assists by a rookie in an All-Star game with ten.

Not only that, but Clark also became the only WNBA rookie ever to record a triple-double. And in her final game before the month-long break, Clark broke the record for most assists in a single game with 19.
