DiJonai Carrington Takes Subtle Shot at Caitlin Clark Eye-Poke Controversy
One of, if not the most controversial moments to come out of the Indiana Fever’s first-round WNBA playoff series against the Connecticut Sun was DiJonai Carrington hitting Caitlin Clark in the eye in Game 1.
Amid the backlash Carrington received for supposedly trying to hurt Clark during the game, the Sun star was asked by a reporter in an interview if there was actually any intention on her end. Unsurprisingly, Carrington scoffed at the loaded question before strongly denying any bad intention against Clark.
According to reports, Connecticut forward DeWanna Bonner confronted the reporter who interviewed her teammate. Christine Brennan, the reporter in question, confirmed that the confrontation did, in fact, occur.
The WNBA Players Association also got involved by attempting to have Brennan’s press credentials revoked. They are accusing the reporter of being out of line with her line of questioning.

On Wednesday, Fever veteran NaLyssa Smith went on Instagram Live with Carrington, who happens to be her partner. The two were doing a live broadcast while they were preparing a meal.
At one point, Smith inadvertently poked Carrington in the eye, which prompted a rather irritated reaction from the Sun guard/forward.

“You poked me in the eye,” Carrington said after a brief pause, now with a smile on her face.
The couple then laughed about the incident before Carrington asked (twice) if Smith did it “on purpose.”
While there was no direct mention of the Clark eye-poke controversy, there’s no denying that this was a subtle shot at the incident in question.
For what it’s worth, there have been no reports pertaining to Brennan getting sanctioned for the way she interviewed Carrington. This has not, however, prevented Carrington from poking fun at this whole situation.
