Inside Indiana Fever practice Day 3 — Caitlin Clark plays point guard | Fieldhouse Files

As the Indiana Fever wrapped up day nine of training camp inside Salesforce Court, anticipation and optimism filled the air. With the final preseason game looming, players, coaches, and fans are eager to see how this new-look squad can come together. I sat down courtside after practice to get direct updates from star rookie Caitlin Clark about her injury recovery, spoke with seasoned forward Brianna Turner on team dynamics, and caught up with head coach Stephanie White for a big-picture outlook.

Caitlin Clark: “I feel really good, just dialing in my routine”

The buzz around Caitlin Clark has only grown since she joined the Fever. After raising some concerns with reported left leg tightness, Clark addressed her status head-on.

“I honestly feel really good,” Clark smiled after a rigorous session. “Maybe I just spent too much time in the gym—I love being in the gym! But our medical staff has been fantastic, and I haven’t missed any time on the practice floor.”

She added: “The last two days, I’ve been full-go, not limited at all. At this point, with a week left before the season, it’s about being smart and not overdoing things. The staff has been great in helping me find that balance.”

Brianna Turner: New Energy and Clear Roles

As the Fever integrate several new faces into the lineup, the question on everyone’s mind is how chemistry can develop so quickly. Brianna Turner, a key veteran, says energy and role clarity have made a big difference this year.

“Steph (White) and her staff put us in great positions to succeed,” Turner explained. “I think everyone knows what they need to do and what their role is. AB (Aliyah Boston) and Sophie [Cunningham], they’re always vocal, always cheering us on. That collective voice makes us strong.”

With the preseason finale coming up, Turner says the focus is tightening up on defense and executing on both ends: “We want to communicate well, set strong screens, and really use these games to gameplan for the season.”

Coach Stephanie White: “We’re still tinkering, finding the best rotations”

Coach Stephanie White, who leads with a blend of analytics and intuition, isn’t ready to lock in any rotations just yet.

“We’re still experimenting,” White told me. “We want to see which five give us our best start, who closes out games well, and how our rotations look. Analytics play a big part—we look at net ratings, defensive and offensive lineups, who performs best under pressure.”

Are any key players being held out for rest or precaution in the final preseason game? “No plans to hold anyone out,” White replied firmly. “We want everyone to get reps. It’s about building quality depth and ensuring we don’t have any drop-off when we go to the bench.”

Looking Forward: High Hopes for Indiana Fever

From the energy on the floor to the depth on the bench, Indiana Fever are positioning themselves as one of the most intriguing teams entering the WNBA season. With Caitlin Clark healthy and ready, a reinforced veteran core, and a coach unafraid to innovate, the Fever look set to put their hard preseason work to the test.

The final preseason matchup in Atlanta will be the team’s dress rehearsal—but the real excitement is set for opening night, where all eyes will be on how far this rebuilt Fever squad can go.
