Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand had some notable comments for Sidney Crosby after last night’s overtime victory against Team Sweden.
Sidney Crosby proved that he is still one of the best Canadian NHL players last night when he recorded three helpers in Team Canada’s 4-3 overtime victory over Team Sweden in the first game of the Four Nations faceoff.
One of those assists came on the game-winning goal when he made a big drop pass back to Mitch Marner in the neutral zone, who rifled a shot past Filip Gustavsson.
After the game, Bruins captain Brad Marchand joked with Crosby about the play, calling the drop pass ‘risky’ and criticizing him for nearly putting himself offsides, which would have negated the goal.
‘Risky play there at the end eight seven eh? Between the legs, back to our zone? Not a big deal. He decided to go for a loop down in the corner after too, almost went offside.’
That being said, Marchand was clearly being tongue and cheek about it, impressed by Crosby’s performance and Marner’s shot.

Unfortunately though, it was not all fun and games for Team Canada last night.
Not only did they not secure all three points that were up for grabs, but they also lost a key player.
Early in the game, Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore exited with an injury and did not return.
This morning, it was revealed that Theodore will miss the remainder of the tournament and is out week-to-week.
In response, Team Canada had to make a move just in case they need to call upon another defenseman before the tournament is over.
With Theodore down, they are running six blueliners so they are just one more injury away from an emergency call up.
This afternoon, we learned that Dallas Stars defenseman Thomas Harley is that emergency defenseman and will get into the lineup if another blueliner goes down.
Canada plays their next game against the United States on Saturday.
