Russia destroys 110 Ukraine drones, four fighters injured in Dzerzhinsk

Four firefighters sustained minor injuries from shrapnel on Sunday when a Ukrainian drone attacked an industrial area in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region, Russia. The region’s governor, Gleb Nikitin, said on the Telegram messaging app, “They were given the necessary medical care, and everyone was sent home.”

According to Russia’s RIA news agency, Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 110 Ukrainian drones across various regions, including eight in the Nizhny Novgorod region, located about 400 km (250 miles) east of Moscow.

Ukrainian drones also targeted Moscow and western Russia, regional officials reported on Sunday. Sergei Sobyanin, mayor of Moscow, informed via Telegram that air defense units destroyed at least one drone aimed at the capital.

In Lipetsk region, drone debris caused several temporary fires, as reported by the region’s governor on Telegram. Additional drone interceptions were reported by the governors of the Bryansk and Oryol regions in western Russia.

Kyiv has previously said that its air attacks focus on infrastructure vital to Russia’s war efforts in response to ongoing airstrikes on Ukraine.
