Patrick Mahomes Makes Bold Claim About Chiefs After Win Over Chargers
The Kansas City Chiefs remained unblemished in four games after beating the Los Angeles Chargers, 17-10, at SoFi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Chiefs brushed off an early 10-0 deficit and rallied to complete the victory. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 245 yards, while tight end Travis Kelce finally had a strong outing with seven receptions for 89 yards while also setting the franchise record for most career receptions.
The win, however, could be costly, as wide receiver Rashee Rice suffered what’s feared to be a season-ending ACL injury in the opening frame. He got accidentally hit by Mahomes during an interception return.
With the Chiefs (4-0) possibly losing Rice, an integral part of their offense, the 29-year-old Mahomes touted that they can also rely on their defense to help them extend their winning streak.
“We weren’t playing good,” Mahomes said in a report from the Associated Press. “But I think the best thing is, no one talks about it and they start to now, but our defense is really good.”

Indeed, the Chiefs’ defense held down the fort on Sunday, preventing the Chargers from scoring even a single point in the last three quarters.
After their fourth straight win, the Chiefs have allowed 18.0 points and 326.8 total yards per outing.
“They (defense) know how to shut the door and keep us in games,” Mahomes said. “Then they believe that the offense is going to find a way to score enough points at the end.”
The Chiefs beat the Chargers on the road for the 11th consecutive time, the longest active winning streak by a visiting squad and tied for third all-time, according to the AP.
Mahomes and company will look to stay unbeaten against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
