Did Caitlin Clark just become the most targeted player in WNBA history? From record-breaking performances to shocking moments of physical aggression, Clark’s rise to superstardom is turning heads—and raising serious questions.

Draymond Green Weighs In On Caitlin Clark’s WNBA Treatment

Throughout sports history, the idea of having a player on a roster who is there to intimidate the opposing side has emerged. The term “goon” has been used within the sport of hockey, while having an enforcer has been apparent in other sports. It’s a good way to ensure that opponents don’t do anything that they aren’t supposed to and keeps things at bay.

Some players also are just known for being instigators, even if they are talented. For example, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has historically been an instigator during his career. He has been suspended multiple times for different incidents, becoming almost a villain in the eyes of fans.

Following an incident between Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter on Saturday, Green weighed in on the situation. Carter knocked Clark to the ground on a hard foul, with Clark calling it not a basketball play following the game.

“Indiana better go invest in an enforcer… FAST!”

Green knows a thing or two about hard fouls, having committed them a few times over the years. This isn’t the first time that Clark has seen herself be the victim of a hard foul during her short first stay in the WNBA, leading to more thought that players don’t like her. She entered the league with a ton of hype, which rubbed some the wrong way since she hadn’t proven herself professionally yet.

Former NBA player Chandler Parsons also weighed in on the foul, asking where Clark’s teammates were to defend her after the incident.

While members of the WNBA have gone on record to say that they don’t hate Clark and that they love having her in the WNBA, some actions speak louder than words. Clark has become a villain of sports around the league despite only having played 10 games so far. She has handled herself with poise the best she can and hasn’t retaliated toward others so far.

Clark did receive a technical foul for an altercation during a game against the Seattle Storm. She exchanged some words with a player, but that was all she did. The star guard has been learning the WNBA game as she has gone on and has been getting better each game. There will be some real learning curves, but no player has dealt with this type of scrutiny in almost every game.
