Jakub Dobes reveals what he really said to Nikita Kucherov during Game 7.

Dobes reveals the mind games that happened at the end of the 2nd period.

Not only has Montreal Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes looked outstanding after making it through the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs against a very tough and experienced Tampa Bay Lightning team as a rookie goaltender, but he’s turning into quite the interview as well.

Dobes has had a number of highly entertaining interviews since his big win in Game 7 on Sunday night, but one that stood out was the interview Dobes conducted with the TNT panel just moments after Dobes and his teammates had officially eliminated the Lightning.

It was during that interview that Dobes was asked about an incident that occurred after the final buzzer had already gone in the game’s second period, one that saw Lightning star forward Nikita Kucherov skate all the way down the ice in an attempt to intimidate Dobes. It was former NHL player Paul Bissonnette who asked the question and Dobes was more than forthcoming with his response.

“To be honest he was tripping me a lot,” revealed Dobes. “Almost every single period.”

As for what was actually said by Kucherov? Dobes didn’t even register it as he was too busy dishing out some trash talk of his own at the time.

“He said something and I said pretty much that ‘I know you guys are nervous’ and that was the end of the conversation,” said Dobes. “We went to the third and the final result is the final result.”

Dobes admitted that, while he recognizes Kucherov’s status as an elite player, he nor his teammates were about to let Kucherov push them around.

“I wanted to show him that I am confident to,” said Dobes. “He’s an elite player but we have really good players too and we definitely don’t lack confidence in our locker room.”
