WNBA popularity has soared this season, but with more eyeballs comes increased scrutiny towards officiating.
During last night’s game between the Las Vegas Aces and Indiana Fever, some Fever fans and other observers made note of what seemed to be a blatantly missed traveling call in the third quarter.
As you can see in the clip below, the Aces guard receives the inbounds pass and takes a couple of steps without dribbling while heading upcourt.
We’ve seen players get away with this type of stuff in NBA games, and fans have pointed it out, so it’s only natural there was a big reaction to the play on social media.
“WNBA refs are so bad, worst refs I have ever seen to be honest,” one person said.
“It’s annoying, but it doesn’t affect the game,” a second person countered.
“That and the no touch fouls by Fever players are more indicators the refs need to actually referee games,” a third person said.
“The travel they called on CC the other game was a tiny slide of the foot. This one and the one KP had on her three pointer in the last minutes of this game were way more obvious,” another Fever fan chimed in.
“Yea, it’s very, very, irritating to those of us brought up on the game way back when,” a fifth commenter added.

Missed travel aside, the Las Vegas Aces were the better team on Friday, picking up a second-straight win over the Fever.
Chelsea Gray (21 points) led four Las Vegas starters in double-figures as the Aces left Indianapolis with a 78-74 victory.
The two-time defending champions are currently the No. 4 seed in the WNBA playoffs heading into the final week of the regular season.
