Caitlin Clark Lands Angel Reese in All Sorts of Trouble as Chicago Community Discover a New Go-To Hangout
The world was caught by surprise last week when Nike made a blockbuster return to the Super Bowl ad scene after 27 years with their electrifying “So Win” campaign. Designed to celebrate women in sports, the ad wasn’t just a commercial, it delivered a powerful message as well. It urged athletes to silence the doubters, trust their grind, and let their game do the talking!
“You can’t make demands… You can’t be proud. You can’t keep score. You can’t stand out…Whatever you do, you can’t win. So Win,” rapper Doechii would narrate the ad. Sabrina Ionescu, A’ja Wilson, Caitlin Clark, Sha’Carri Richardson, and more graced the campaign, earning a “Literally the best commercial tonight,” comment from Lisa Leslie. It received a nod from all over as the featured stars took to their social media to further convey the message.
But Nike didn’t just stop there, they took things up another step, sparking a massive buzz. Now what did they do?
They did the unthinkable! Nike took their campaign to the next level by placing Caitlin Clark billboards in Chicago. Yes, Chicago! The very city where Clark’s arch-rival, Angel Reese, plays.
For Nike, the campaign is about telling the athletes’ story just when the focus on women’s sports is bigger than it ever has been. “Women are just absolutely shattering records right now, selling out stadiums, ticket sales, commanding contracts like you’ve never seen before, and being placed with probably some of the harshest expectations of how you’re supposed to act. And I think they will redefine what it means to be athletes and personalities of the future,” Chief Marketing Officer Nicole Hubbard Graham says.
The brand reportedly has a lot more in store for 2025 and So win was only the beginning of it. A strong start, for sure. So now, placing the ad in Chicago might have been to just tap one of the bigger markets, but fans couldn’t help but speculate a sly dig aimed at Reese and the Sky.
Clark fans delighted to see the Nike billboard
One fan took to X with a fiery take, claiming Caitlin Clark might have more fans in Chicago than anyone on the Sky. “She probably has 100x more fans in Chicago than anyone on the Sky,” they said. While Angel Reese fans might argue this with her social media followers which credit to her is way more than Caitlin. However, there’s no denying that Clark, as a player, is a force to be reckoned with. We’d know that during the Sky vs Fever game last year.
“They were cheering for Caitlin and the Fever on Reese Barbie Night. lol Kids were asking Caitlin to sign Barbie towels,” another noted.
For those unfamiliar with ‘Barbie Night,’ it was a promotional event hosted by the Chicago Sky during their game against the Indiana Fever, where fans were given Barbie-themed signs to support the home team. But the love wasn’t all directed towards the Chi-Town Barbie. We’d see fans getting their Barbie towels signed by Clark too.
The rivalry is certainly factored in, but one couldn’t help but note that Chicago was a good market in the midwest. “I wonder if Nike put this in Chicago to be nasty towards Angel Reese or because Chicago is the largest market in the Midwest and 3rd largest in the country?” a comment read. But for the CC fans, the billboard is all they see now. There have been queries about the location and well, the Caitlin Clark fan community has your back!
One dedicated fan took to X to share the exact location so fellow supporters could check it out for themselves. “For those asking where this is in Chicago, it’s at about 157 W Chicago Ave, between Wells and LaSalle,” they revealed.
By placing Caitlin Clark billboards in Chicago, Nike didn’t just celebrate women’s sports, they stirred the pot, ruffled some Sky feathers, and made sure they became the talk of the town!
