Angel Reese wipes her brow during the first half of a WNBA game.LAPRESSE
With the WNBA season just weeks away, anticipation is building across the league. While Paige Bueckers’ arrival in the professional ranks is a major headline, another story is generating buzz, the reunion of Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith in Chicago.
Reese took to X to express excitement about reuniting with her former LSU teammate, posting, “We ain’t do it right the first time. Let’s run it backkkkk.” The message signals her belief that things will be different in Chicago compared to their time at LSU, where Van Lith struggled to find her place in the loaded Tigers lineup.
Despite LSU’s impressive 31-6 record and a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Van Lith had difficulty adjusting, unable to replicate her standout performances from Louisville. Her season ended in disappointment, as she was benched during LSU’s second-round NCAA Tournament game and heavily criticized after failing to contain Caitlin Clark in their Elite Eight loss. Ultimately, she transferred to TCU in search of a fresh start.
That move paid off. Van Lith led TCU to its first Big 12 title game, won MVP honors, and guided the Horned Frogs to their first-ever Elite Eight. Her resilience was rewarded when Chicago selected her as the No. 11 pick in the WNBA Draft.
Things might not work in the end
Despite the enthusiasm between Reese and Van Lith, analysts remain skeptical about their on-court chemistry. Charlotte Wilder of The Sports Gossip Show voiced concerns, stating, “It didn’t work out on the court the way she wanted it to. And so that just adds a whole level of intrigue.”
Van Lith, however, is confident things will be different in Chicago. In her introductory press conference, she explained how the WNBA’s spacing and the Sky’s roster will allow her to excel alongside Reese in a way that wasn’t possible at LSU. Reese, already stepping into a leadership role, has advised Van Lith to “be in shape” for the season ahead.
With Kamilla Cardoso anchoring the frontcourt and new head coach Tyler Marsh leading the charge, Chicago has built a promising squad. The addition of All-Star Ariel Atkins further strengthens their playoff hopes.
Now, the duo has the perfect opportunity to silence their doubters. Will Reese and Van Lith finally thrive together? Or will old struggles resurface? The answer will unfold when the Sky take the court for their season opener.
Kamilla Cardoso Has Finally Decided to Reveals How Coach Teresa Weatherspoon Benched Her to Boost Angel Reese’s Stats, Forbidding Her from Speaking Up
Kamilla Cardoso, the talented Brazilian basketball player, has spoken out about her experience under the leadership of Coach Teresa Weatherspoon. The star center, known for her remarkable skills on the court, has accused Weatherspoon of unfairly benching her to prioritize the stats of teammate Angel Reese. The allegations have ignited a heated debate over favoritism, player treatment, and team dynamics in competitive sports.
Cardoso, who has been a key player for her team, shared her frustration in a recent interview. “I’m done with her behavior,” she said, referring to Weatherspoon. According to Cardoso, the coach’s decisions were not based on merit but were instead part of a calculated effort to boost Reese’s visibility and statistics, even at the expense of the team’s overall performance.

Cardoso claims that she was frequently benched during critical moments of games, despite being in peak form. “I was told not to question her decisions,” she revealed. “But it became clear that this wasn’t about strategy. It was about making sure Angel’s stats looked good, even if it meant sidelining me.”
The allegations suggest that Weatherspoon was more concerned with elevating Reese’s profile than maintaining fairness among her players. Reese, a rising star in her own right, has enjoyed significant attention from both fans and media. However, Cardoso’s claims cast a shadow over the team’s dynamics, raising questions about whether favoritism has undermined the collective effort.
What makes Cardoso’s story even more troubling is the environment that allegedly discouraged her from speaking out. “Whenever I tried to express my concerns, I was shut down,” she said. “I was made to feel like my voice didn’t matter.”
For a player of Cardoso’s caliber, being silenced was particularly disheartening. Known for her dominance in the paint and her ability to change the course of a game, she has been an invaluable asset to her team. Yet, she found herself relegated to the sidelines, her contributions minimized.
Angel Reese’s Rose-Adorned Custom Reebok Sneakers Revealed Ahead of Unrivaled Debut
The look was created by Marvin Baroota, founder of SoLegit Customs.

Marvin Baroota, founder of SoLegit Customs, couldn’t have created a more fitting custom sneaker for Angel Reese ahead of her Unrivaled debut.
The artist reimagined the Reebok Engine A for Reese, the athletic brand’s first performance basketball shoe release since the early 2010s. For Reese, he created a look replete with tonal pink roses that adorn a predominantly green shoe with hits of black.
The rose storytelling is a timely one, as Reese is set to play for Unrivaled — a new three-on-three women’s basketball league founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier — as a member of the Roses B.C.

Reese’s team — just like the five other in Unrivaled — is stacked. The star forward will play alongside Chelsea Gray, Brittney Sykes, Kahleah Copper, Azurá Stevens and Lexie Hull.
The first-ever season for Unrivaled tips off Jan. 16 on TNT. At 7 p.m. ET, the Mist B.C. will face the Lunar Owls B.C., and the second game of the night will feature Reese and the Rose B.C. against. the Vinyl B.C. at 8 p.m. ET.
