“The team to be scared of in 2025” – Fever fans thrilled over Caitlin Clark’s photo op with coach Stephanie White

WNBA fans are excited after seeing Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Lexie Hull with their newest head coach, Stephanie White, on Monday. The former Connecticut Sun coach was introduced to the press for the first time today and was greeted by the Indiana Fever players.

The Fever announced White as the replacement for Christie Sides on Friday. The organization let go of Sides on Oct. 27, following a 20-20 season and a first-round exit in the playoffs.

White, on the other hand, was fired by the Sun after two seasons. The team reached the postseason and made the postseason twice. She led the team to a back-to-back semifinal appearance in the playoffs.

This time, White gets to redeem herself as a head coach for the team with a new breed of stars headlined by Clark. The Fever posted a photo of the coach with the current stars of the organization on social media.

White played in Indiana for four seasons and returned to the franchise as an assistant coach in 2011. She was named head coach in the 2015 season and led the team to the WNBA Finals but lost.

In the 2016 season, White led the team to a 17-17 record, leading the Fever back to the postseason. However, they were eliminated in the first round by the Phoenix Mercury.

Fever’s new coach spoke highly of Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston

White had high praise for Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. In her introductory presser, the Fever coach talked about the potential the two rising WNBA stars have shown the past season and what they could become.

“They’re both incredibly competitive players,” White said. “There’s a fire and a mentality you can’t teach when it comes to competitive spirit and when it comes to being a great teammate, and when it comes to lifting those up around you. Watching both of them grow into not just the players that they are but into the spotlight that they have, how they lead, how they make their teammates better, how they lift one another up, and how they handle.

“All of the things that have come their way and all of those things that come your way are certainly earned when you’re in that position.”

A new era in Indiana is set to begin with White and Clark for the 2025 WNBA season.
