Connor McDavid sends a direct warning to Florida Panthers after fiery Game 3

Connor McDavid has taken his leadership to a new level this season, and now he’s directly telling the Panthers that his team will take another major step to win the Cup.

McDavid has issued warnings to other teams previously this postseason, constantly saying the Oilers haven’t reached their peak yet – and proceeded to eliminate Vegas and Dallas in 10 games total.

Connor McDavid issues warnings to Florida Panthers before Game 4

Speaking to the media after the game last night, McDavid guaranteed that the Oilers will take another step and elevate their game even more to take home the Cup.

It wasn’t our best. Not our best at all. I don’t think our best has shown up all series long, but it’s coming.

In the last two games of the Final, the Oilers have gotten away from their game and come up with some disappointing efforts. The defence has struggled, depth scoring has dried up, and the Oilers have got caught in the Panthers’ antics.
Oilers need to wake up after two subpar efforts in Cup Final

This McDavid quote is a direct wake up call to his own team that Game 4 needs to be better, and a guarantee to Florida they will be. The next game is close to a must-win for Edmonton, otherwise they’d be backed into a corner to win 3 straight against the defending champs.

Coming after an especially fiery Game 3 too, there’s some weight to McDavid guaranteeing a better effort next time. It’s personal for the Oilers now.

If Edmonton win Game 4, their outlook suddenly becomes a best of 3 series with home ice advantage. That’s a situation they’ll take – but they need to earn it with a much better effort in Game 4.
