Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are back after the WNBA’s nearly month-long break for the Olympics.
The Fever got the second half of the season started strong with a 98-89 win over the Phoenix Mercury behind a strong performance from Clark.
The star rookie finished with 29 points, 10 assists and five boards. Kelsey Mitchell also added 28 points in the win. Clark didn’t miss a beat after the extended break, scoring 16 points within her first eight minutes of action.
Clark had a statement performance in her first game back from the break, and it reminded fans—including Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton—why she’s the frontrunner to be Rookie of the Year.
With the win, the Fever improved to 12-15 on the season and hold strong at No. 7 in the WNBA standings. After winning just 13 games a season ago, Indiana is now just a win away from tying its win total from last year.
Clark will look to continue leading the Fever to success while increasing her lead in the Rookie of the Year race.
