Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Has 2-Word Response to Travis Kelce’s Guardians Boast

Travis Kelce took advantage of the Kansas City Chiefs’ bye week to enjoy a weekend in New York with girlfriend Taylor Swift.

They extended their break into Monday by taking in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series between the Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Kelce, a Cleveland native, might have taken some criticism for not wearing team paraphernalia that night, but he certainly enjoyed the last laugh Thursday.

The ALCS shifted back to Cleveland for Game 3 on Thursday.

The Guardians won a see-saw battle in 10 innings on David Fry’s game-ending home run.

It was their first win in the best-of-seven series, which resumes Friday with the Yankees leading two games to one.

Kelce clearly relished the victory in a social media post Thursday.

“I’ve been a cleveland sports fan my entire life…” he wrote on his Twitter/X account.

“Make it back to countless amount of games over the years both Guards and Cavs just to enjoy these memories with my friends and family, WIN OR LOSE!!… and I don’t wear Cleveland gear one time and all of a sudden I’m not a real fan?! Ask anybody that was in or around that suite on game 1 who I was cheering for, they’ll let you know I was there for the @CleGuardians.”

In keeping with the “win or lose” spirit of the evening, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a two-word response on the social media platform.

“Go @Royals,” Mahomes wrote.

The Yankees eliminated the Kansas City Royals in the American League Division Series last week, advancing to the ALCS to face the Guardians.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – OCTOBER 14: Jerrod Carmichael, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce attend Game One of the American League Championship Series between the Cleveland Guardians and the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

MLB’s postseason is enjoying outstanding viewership numbers.

An alignment of geographical rivalries, star power, and four even Division Series matchups that yielded four 1-1 starts for the first time ever helped yield the best Division Series ratings in seven years.

Having a celebrity power couple hanging on every game doesn’t hurt baseball’s Q rating. And the league is leaning into it.

MLB reposted a summary of the Kelce-Mahomes postgame exchange to its official Instagram account Thursday night.

Swift, 34, and Kelce, 35, were previously seen in New York attending the men’s singles final at the U.S. Open alongside a group of friends that included Mahomes and his wife, Brittany.

The Guardians are the clear underdog in the ALCS against the Yankees, and Kelce made sure to relish in his home team’s victory.
