Brad Marchand berates fans booing national anthems at hockey games!

The Bruins superstar did not dodge the question and didn’t hold back. Watch below:

In recent weeks, the National Hockey League witnessed some controversy take place during their games when some Canadian hockey fans decided to express their unhappiness with recent policy changes in the United States of America.

Those fans did so by booing during the performing of the American national anthem with several incidents of this nature taking place.

It later on led to American fans booing the Canadian anthem, prompting the league to consider changing policies when it comes to the pre game tradition of singing anthems before puck drop.

Many players, including Detroit Red Wings’ Patrick Kane, reacted to fans booing the anthems, and it was Boston Bruins’ Brad Marchand’s turn when he was a guest on the What Chaos! podcast.

The Bruins’ captain immediately stated how booing the anthem was a sign of disrespect and how he did not agree with it at all.

“The anthems are there as a sign of respect because of our veterans and all that they sacrificed. The entire reason we get to play this game and have freedom.”

Marchand went on to say that he did not respect the people who could boo national anthems and made them look like idiots:

“Also, we’re playing hockey. We don’t have any decision in what’s going on in politics, so… I don’t agree with that stuff.”

You may not agree with Marchand’s take, but at least, he answered the question. Recently, Toronto Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews declined to get political with the media.

Marchand is in Team Canada’s lineup for the 4 Nations tournament, and will be in action later tonight, facing Team Sweden.
Canada takes on Team USA in Montreal on Saturday night.

I guess we will see what happens when the anthems are sung…
