Chiefs Beat Raiders in Another One-Possession Game.

The Kansas City Chiefs have some soul-searching to do after Week 13’s close contest against the Las Vegas Raiders.
For the second time in as many years, the Chiefs welcomed the Las Vegas Raiders to Arrowhead for a nationally televised game.
On Friday, however, it was Kansas City who walked away a winner, 19-17 after an inexplicable last-play blunder for the Raiders.

While last year’s matchup saw Las Vegas turn things upside down with turnovers that made the Chiefs’ offense look dysfunctional, Friday’s game was much cleaner.
Kansas City went into halftime with a 10-3 lead, trading punts throughout much of the first two quarters.
The Chiefs went up two possessions early in the third quarter.
responding to another Raiders punt with a Matthew Wright field goal.
In a fit of déjà vu, the defense then forced another stop.
and the offense scored another field goal, making it a 16-3 ballgame.
However, the momentum shifted when Las Vegas took a kick return to the Kansas City 26-yard line.
Moments later, rookie tight end Brock Bowers added to his case for AFC Offensive Rookie of the Year, scoring a 33-yard touchdown.
The Raiders defense rallied, forcing another punt, and Las Vegas’ once-anemic offense responded in kind.
On the second play of the drive, Raiders receiver Tre Tucker was off to the races with a 58-yard house call and the lead.
In typical Chiefs fashion, the offense responded when necessary.
Burning a third of the remaining time, Kansas City began the fourth quarter with an 11-play field goal drive to go up 19-17.
The Raiders, for the third time in one game, saw kicker Daniel Carlson waste their hopes of an upset.
He missed a 56-yarder in the first half, a 55-yard field goal in the third quarter.
and then a 58-yard attempt on Las Vegas’ best chance to win the game.
However, this Chiefs team has attempted to give away games on multiple occasions.
They did so again on Friday when Mahomes attempted a deep pass to receiver Xavier Worthy ahead of the two-minute warning.
leading to a punt instead of wasting additional time.
With a chance to shock the football world, the Raiders began their final drive with 1:56 remaining from their own eight-yard line.
Las Vegas quarterback Aiden O’Connell looked like his counterpart for a brief moment, finding completions of seven, five, 25, 10.
and eight yards on consecutive plays.
And then disaster struck, an early snap caught him off guard.
The ball ricocheted off O’Connell’s shoulder and into the hands of linebacker Nick Bolton.
The Chiefs won, once again in dramatic fashion, to advance to 11-1.
