Patrick Mahomes’ dad bod went viral before heated physical altercation with Chiefs teammate in training camp

Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes has also been grinding, ditching the ‘dad bod’ that caused a social media sensation.

A viral photo of Mahomes celebrating the Chiefs’ AFC title win over the Baltimore Ravens in 202  drew a hilarious eight-word response from the QB himself.

“I feel I have a six pack, it’s just under the dad bod,” he said before winning his third ring. “If you feel there might be some skin there, but then underneath that, the six pack is there.

“You just gotta get real close and squint a little bit. I think you’ll see it.”

When he turned up to camp last year still appearing to pack a paunch, the internet was awash with comments, forcing the three-time Super Bowl champ to defend his physique.

“I have a great body for a quarterback,” he told TIME. “You’ve got to have some padding in there to take the hits that we take.”

His figure can be put down to an obsession with Chick-fil-A and snacking on Starbursts.

Thanks to wife Brittany, we also know that Pat indulges in an unusual bedtime habit before he goes to sleep every night.

In a Q&A on Instagram, Brittany revealed that her husband ‘eats Doritos every night in bed’ before going to sleep.

Mahomes’ leadership was on full display during last year’s preseason camp as he got involved to break up a scuffle during practice.

Linebacker Drue Tranquill was incensed after a play but Mahomes — wearing a yellow non-contact bib — got right in the thick of things to drag him away and prevent an incident.

“My favorite thing is when Chiefs players process that it’s Mahomes holding them back and have to dial back their struggling by a factor of 100 because their career is on the line,” remarked a member of Chiefs Kingdom on X at the time.

Mahomes took plenty of hits last season behind a struggling offensive line — the six sacks he conceded in a Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles were a career-high.

But in what could be a show of faith in first-round tackle Josh Simmons, Mahomes has ditched his extra protection, having put the work in over the offseason in what has been branded his revenge tour.

The former Texas Tech standout stunned fans by posting private workout videos to his social media account that appeared to show him shedding extra pounds.

“I feel like I didn’t play to my standard, especially the struggles that I had early in the season,” Mahomes exclusively told talkSPORT after the Philadelphia Eagles’ 0-22 win in New Orleans.

“There’s things that I have to get better at, and they kind of showed today on the biggest stage.”

Mahomes reunited with teammate Kelce for a golf outing at Pinehurst in North Carolina.

While Kelce jokingly showed off his rear end to a camera, Mahomes appeared confident and slimmed down.

“Revenge tour coming”, one fan wrote.

“We’ve come a long way,” a second fan tweeted. “New hair and no dad bod? Safe to say new year, new Mahomes.”

“Dad bod gone,” a third fan posted.

After Eagles QB Hurts won the recent Super Bowl MVP award, Mahomes soaked in his pain and vowed to use it for as fuel.

“Both sucked. There’s no way around it,” Mahomes said.

“Anytime you lose a Super Bowl, they’ll stick with you the rest of your career. These will be the two losses that will motivate me to be even better for the rest of my career, because you only get so few of these.”

With Mahomes and Kelce already fighting fit ahead of Tuesday’s minicamp, few should bet against the Chiefs making a sixth Super Bowl with their superstar tandem.

It may be the last we see of them together as Kelce, who considered retiring over the offseason, is in the final year of his contract.

One star who has gone in another direction is running back Isiah Pacheco.

The speedster struggled to keep his weight up after fracturing his fibula last season, but has managed to get back closer to his ideal shape as he looks to play Robin to Mahomes’ Batman.
