Delivering a dynamic blend of in-depth analysis, thrilling highlights, and exclusive interviews, Athlon’s daily newsletter immerses you in the heart of the game.
Angel Reese continues to be one of the most talked-about players in the 2025 WNBA season. Now in her second year, the Chicago Sky forward remains a central figure in both headlines and highlight reels. Despite her team’s slow start, just four wins in 15 games, Reese’s production has been a bright spot.
Chicago is coming off a road loss to Golden State on Friday night and will face the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday. Reese posted another standout performance in the defeat, scoring 17 points and grabbing 18 rebounds.
Already known by nicknames like “Bayou Barbie” and “Chi Barbie,” Reese introduced a new moniker via Instagram on Saturday:
“life of AR Point-5 🏀🌹💋💓🔥🐶💃🏽📸”

Reese, a 6-foot-3 forward out of LSU, was the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. In her rookie season, she played in all 34 games, averaging 13.6 points per game. Her efforts earned her spots on the WNBA All-Rookie Team and the All-Star roster. She also led the league in rebounding.
This season, her numbers have dipped slightly. Through 15 games, she’s averaging 11.7 points and 12.3 rebounds. The Sky’s offense has struggled as a whole, ranking 12th in the league with just 77.9 points per game.

Chicago is currently missing key contributor Kamilla Cardoso, who has left the team temporarily to represent Brazil in the AmeriCup. Cardoso ranks second on the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game and also averages 6.6 rebounds.
Following the Sunday game at Los Angeles, the Sky have a week off before they play two more road games: at Minnesota and Washington.
