“Not the best player”: Connor McDavid slammed by fans as recent struggles raise questions about Oilers’ future

Connor McDavid, the star player of Team Canada, has had a mixed week. Fresh off winning the 4 Nations Face Off for Team Canada, his NHL team, the Edmonton Oilers have suffered the most.

While the star player took no breaks and was back on the ice on Saturday for the game against the Washinton Capitals, his team suffered a devastating loss and now fans feel different about him.

Connor McDavid Is Not The “Best Player” Anymore As Edmonton Oilers Continues To Lose, Fans Feel

A recent post by World Hockey Report on X has spoken about the “poor” performance of Connor McDavid’s. The post reads as, “Say what you want about the Oilers but Connor McDavid is -12 with 0 even strength points in his last 4 games and 2 periods” and fans agree with it.

A fan commented, “I’ve watched every game in his career. This is hands down the worst he’s ever played and it’s not close”, while another fan wrote, “Basically if McDavid isn’t going this team is f*****d 🤷🏻‍♂️”.

A third fan wrote, “Not the best player in the world anymore”. However, some fans disagree and have continued to defend the star player.

A fan wrote, “Breaking news Connor McDavid falters for one week in the last 10 years”, while another fan wrote, “He really deserved the last week off imo. He too needs rest. Not sure what management are thinking. For him it’s like the first two weeks of the year coming off the game 7 loss in the SCF.”

Connor McDavid led Edmonton Oilers was left defeated by the Washington Capitals and the Philadelphia Flyers over the weekend.

This has shocked fans but Connor McDavid does not believe it is a big deal.

Connor McDavid said, “Just get back to work. Sometimes this happens after breaks; some teams come out flying, some come out flat.

We’ve obviously been the latter, so [we’ve] got to get back to our game.”
Edmonton Oilers is now gearing up to play against the Florida Panthers and all eyes are now on Connor McDavid. Emotions are on the rise for the fans of the Edmonton Oilers.
