Tom Brady casts doubt over the Chiefs’ three-peat chances as he explains ‘big challenge’ for Super Bowl winners

The Kansas City Chiefs are already in rare territory by repeating as Super Bowl champions, but Tom Brady doesn’t seem convinced that they can achieve the NFL’s first three-peat.

Speaking on ‘The Herd’ with Colin Cowherd, Brady explained that the ‘margin of error is razor thin’ for Kansas City, who will play an ‘aggressive’ schedule in the eyes of star tight end Travis Kelce.

 ‘To put three of those together, in back-to-back-to-back seasons, with drafting last, a very hard schedule, all of the turnover in free agency and guys continuing to be motivated, it’s a big challenge,’ Brady said on Monday.

‘There’s not a 50 percent chance of that happening. They’re way less than that. Those players are going to show up every day, they’re going to have to put in the work like they have.

‘That’s not to say the Chiefs couldn’t accomplish that. Believe me, everybody would probably put them as one of the odds-on favorites to do it.’

Of course, the Chiefs are led by the league’s best passer in Patrick Mahomes and an extremely savvy offensive mind in head coach Andy Reid, as Brady mentioned.

Chris Jones is also one of the league’s premier defensive players while the newly-signed Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown gives Mahomes another scary weapon to work with.

Still, Brady said, it’s a ‘momentous task’ to achieve a three-peat.

Following their second-straight Super Bowl win, the Chiefs got an early bye in the 2024 season, as they’ll only play five games before taking a break in Week 6.

That’s followed by Kansas City finishing out their season by playing three games in 10 days.

‘It gets a little aggressive at the end,’ Kelce said recently on his ‘New Heights’ podcast with his brother Jason. ‘…That’s a hell of a way to finish out the [regular] season.’

The Chiefs certainly don’t have an easy schedule, but the stats say it’s roughly in the middle of the pack.

According to Sharp Football Analysis, Kansas City has the 12th-hardest schedule based on Vegas predicted win totals.

The Chiefs’ season will open with a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game vs. the Ravens, while they’ll also face the Bengals, Bills, Browns, Texans and 49ers – the latter being a Super Bowl LVIII rematch.

Nonetheless, Kelce is apparently looking forward to the challenge of achieving a three-peat.

 ‘I’m excited man, he said to his brother Jason. ‘I get to play in front of the entire world a lot and on top of that we got the first two games this season [that] are [against] two of the biggest teams in the NFL. And that’s exciting to get pumped up for early on.’
