A post on X (formerly Twitter) on the former coach of the Connecticut Sun, Stephanie White, talking about Caitlin Clark went viral on Wednesday. The post was about the potential team-up of White and Clark, following her firing from the Sun on Monday.

Following her departure from the team, there has been talk about White becoming the next coach for Clark and the Indiana Fever.

The Fever has a head coaching vacancy after they parted ways with Christie Sides on Sunday. Sides started with the organization in 2022 and helped them reach the postseason for the first time since the 2016 WNBA season this year.

Both White and Clark share mutual respect, often complimenting each other. However, an X user, @dreadsbanes, posted an edited graphic of the former Sun head coach wanting to trade her entire team in exchange for the Fever star.

“I would trade my whole team for her,” the viral post reads.

Looking at the graphic closely, it shows that the former coach allegedly made the statement about Clark through the X user. After further checking, it was found that White never released such a statement.

The post reached a certain amount of people who thought the quote was true. The X user got the quote from April when an anonymous general manager said they’d trade their entire team for Clark.

The X account is a dedicated Clark and Fever fan account. Most posts on the account show the fan’s support for the former Iowa Hawkeyes star.

Caitlin Clark talked about her true feelings for Stephanie White

Amid the talk about the Fever pursuing White as their new head coach, Caitlin Clark’s comments about the coach resurfaced. Indiana played against Connecticut in their first game of the 2024 WNBA season. Ahead of the game, Clark was asked about her thoughts on the then-Sun coach.

White had front-row seats on what Clark did in college as she had the chance to cover plenty of Iowa’s games.

“She’s obviously called a lot of my games all throughout college, and I think she has a really great basketball mind,” Clark said. “I think she’s done a great job calling college games, it’s been great to see her on NBA games. I think what she’s done is just, she obviously has been a trailblazer, honestly. I think she’s somebody who’s been supportive of my game, and it’s been fun to talk to her at shootarounds throughout my college career and has always been really supportive.”

The two might get a chance to team up for next season now that there’s a spot in the head coaching department.
