Country music icon Reba McEntire recently shared insights into her previous marriage with Narvel Blackstock, emphasizing that their relationship was deeply based on business.

Reba Opens Up About Her Marriage To Ex Husband

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Friday, March 1, Reba McEntire opened up about her 26-year marriage to Narvel Blackstock, which lasted from 1989 to 2015. In the interview, she admitted that their relationship was largely focused on their careers rather than romance.

McEntire acknowledged that while some couples can successfully balance work and personal life, for her and Blackstock, business was always the priority.

“It was a situation that was always business,” she revealed. “I think it works for some people. They can be married or have a relationship and work together. Our work was all the time.”

Reba and Narvel started out working together before they got married, and their marriage lasted for more than two decades before they divorced. When their relationship turned romantic, their work life seemed to always be there, never really going away as time went on.

“Our marriage was 26 years. We started out working together in the band. He was part of the band, and then became my manager, later on then my husband, but it was a situation that was always business—whether we were getting ready in the morning, pillow talk, whatever, but it was business.”

McEntire even shares that during vacations, their talks consistently circled back to their work.

“About three days into a vacation it was like, ‘You know what we can do?’” she tells Drew Barrymore.

Despite the end of her marriage to Blackstock in 2015, McEntire has since found happiness in her relationship with Rex Linn, who she has been romantically involved with since 2020.
