UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: The Battle Rounds on ‘The Voice’ Season 25 concluded on March 26, but it was what wasn’t aired that got people buzzing. While several Battles were televised in their entirety (such as Team Reba’s Ashley Bryant defeating Elyscia Jefferson), one performance was only shown as part of a montage, infuriating fans.
During Tuesday’s episode, Anya True of Team Dan+Shay battled against AJ Harvey. However, viewers were outraged and bashed the network on social media after only seeing a shortened clip of the Battle.

On X, fans wrote, “I’m so frustrated that Anya and AJ got montaged. They were two of my favorites from the Blinds and im sad AJ is gone already and we didn’t even get to hear him perform again. Such a shame and so unfair to the artists.” Another fan complained, “We didn’t get much set up.”
One user felt, “AJ Harvey vs Anya True got a little more time than the montage.” A fourth user requested, ” Can we have more music and fewer flashbacks and less chitchat?”
Who won the Battle betwee ‘The Voice’s Anya True and AJ Harvey?
Dan + Shay assigned John Mayer’s “Half of My Heart” to Anya and AJ, since it is one of Shay Mooney’s all-time favorite songs. In rehearsals, they remark that the song leans more towards AJ’s style, but if Anya views this as a chance, she will be able to break through.
The coaches advised AJ to stay faithful to the melody and Anya to “lean in” to her “whimsical” approach. Following their battle (we only saw a fraction of it), Dan + Shay pronounce Anya the winner since she is just 17 and has “intangible star power.”
