Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese are amid a Rookie of the Year battle.

The WNBA Rookie of the Year race has been fun to watch all season. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese have been the two favorites for the award since early in the season, and that remains the case following their latest battle.
Chicago picked up a win over Indiana on Sunday behind a career night from Reese. Finishing with 25 points and 16 rebounds, Reese led Chicago to their first win over Indiana this season. Clark was great as well, finishing with 17 points, 13 assists, and 6 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough.
Following this game, ESPN reported a massive shift in the Rookie of the Year odds, with Reese significantly closing the gap between her and Clark:
Individual matchups can have a strong impact on awards races, and it seems this matchup between Clark and Reese has heavily shifted the odds. Both players have made a strong case for Rookie of the Year, as they each lead their class in different categories.
Following Sunday’s game, here are the statistical averages for Clark and Reese:
Clark: 16.3 PPG, 6.6 APG, 5.4 RPG, 1.5 SPG, 0.9 BPG, 39.9% FG, 35.2% 3FG, 88.9% FT
Reese: 13.2 PPG, 2.1 APG, 11.1 RPG, 1.7 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 40.6% FG, 0.0% 3FG, 76.2% FT
Chicago (6-9) currently holds a half-game lead over Indiana (7-11) in the Eastern Conference standings. While Clark and Reese play different positions and very different styles, they both lead WNBA rookies in several categories as this race continues to heat up.
