Caitlin Clark is a way better defender than folks give her credit
No doubt, CC is an offensive machine in every aspect of the game.
So, folks often go to her defense as her glaring weakness, and I suppose if we’re talking relative to her offense, that’s a fair point.
But relative to other WNBA players, I believe she isn’t far off all-star caliber already. Her contributions are often missed because she understands the floor so well.
Her helpside work, closing on the ball, and foot work to close off lanes is great.

She is great at timing double and triple teams, she gets her hands up, she is good at swiping at the ball without drawing fouls.
She leads the league in blocks as a guard. She is an excellent defensive rebounder with her court vision.
Then, she turns around and hustles the ball up court on offense. She is the complete player.
My only complaints are that she sometimes gets turned and players dribble drive past her and she somtimes struggles fighting through screens that need fighting through.
Both will come getting used to pro speeds and physicallity improvement.
She’ll be elite defensively in the next year or two.
