That surprising decision looks even worse following Week 11’s loss to the Bills.

The Kansas City Chiefs showed complete faith in their roster when the Nov. 5 trade deadline arrived. opting to stick with the status quo while in pursuit of a third consecutive Super Bowl victory. Even though the fanbase would’ve happily accepted some reinforcement. staying quiet didn’t seem like a bad idea considering how the Chiefs were undefeated at that point.

 

Unfortunately, Andy Reid’s team is no longer undefeated and Sunday’s 30-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills has fans re-thinking if the uneventful trade deadline was a good idea.

The situation is even worse considering how Kansas City was connected to a potential deadline target that ultimately could’ve helped them win in Week 11.

Leading up to the deadline, NFL insider Adam Schefter linked the Chiefs to New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

With the slumping Saints positioned as sellers, Lattimore was a player Kansas City fans wanted to see come to town after cementing himself as one of the best CBs of the last decade.

Unfortunately, a deal to land Lattimore never materialized.

The Chiefs took too long to send an enticing trade offer, leading to the Saints shipping the four-time Pro Bowl defender .

and a fifth-round pick to the Washington Commanders in exchange for three draft selections.

The Commanders didn’t have to break the bank to add Lattimore, making the Chiefs’ decision to stick with the status quo even more frustrating.

It doesn’t help that they could’ve used the 28-year-old’s talents against Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

who averaged 6.6 yards on 27 completions while also passing for a touchdown on Sunday.

Although Lattimore has yet to debut for his new team, it isn’t hard to imagine how he would’ve helped the Chiefs over the weekend.

The ex-Ohio State product carries a 71.6 coverage grade on Pro Football Focus after only allowing eight completions on 14 targets for 83 yards with two disrupted passes and zero touchdowns allowed.

The time to trade for reinforcements is over, meaning the Chiefs must stick with the CBs they have down the stretch.

Jaylen Watson (ankle) is still on injured reserve, though, meaning the likes of Trent McDuffie, Chamarri Conner.

and Nazeeh Johnson must continue to find ways to step up in his absence.

The Chiefs’ CB room will have a much easier task when they travel to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 12.

Not only do the Panthers own one of the NFL’s worst passing offenses.

but the Chiefs are heading into the matchup as the 10.5-point favorites at Bank of America Stadium on FanDuel Sportsbook.
