Angel Reese’s First Post After Losing AP Rookie of the Year to Caitlin Clark Says It All
It’s official. Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is the Associated Press Rookie of the Year for 2024. The announcement was made on Sunday afternoon.
The 22-year-old was the unanimous choice for the coveted title.
Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, who was widely considered the biggest threat to Clark’s Rookie of the Year claim, took to X (formerly Twitter) not long after Clark’s win was announced.
Reese’s post had nothing to do with the Rookie of the Year race — at least not on the surface — but the Sky star sent a very clear message about her current state.
“Woke up again a very blessed girl. a very happy girl. 😇🙏🏽” Reese wrote.
“Hope everyone can understand that people are different so don’t judge”, Sky rookie added.
The former LSU superstar is counting her blessings as she continues to be thankful for being in the position she is right now — regardless of how the AP Rookie of the Year vote turned out.
It is worth noting that the Rookie of the Year honor announced on Sunday was handed out by the Associated Press, which it does annually.
The WNBA has not yet named its official winner, but it appears it’s only a matter of time before Clark also received that title.
The league’s 2024 MVP voting has been released, however, and Clark finished No. 4 overall. Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson took home her third MVP award in unanimous fashion after receiving all 67 first-place votes.
Angel Reese goes ballistic as ESPN set the record straight with their final WNBA rookie rankings and recognized CC as ROTY
In a thrilling moment for basketball fans, ESPN recently finalized their WNBA rookie rankings, and the recognition of Caitlin Clark as Rookie of the Year (ROTY) sparked a fiery response from Angel Reese. Known for her competitive spirit and outspoken nature, Reese took to social media to express her frustration with the decision, emphasizing her own accomplishments during the season.
“I don’t even care about who is ROTY but let me tell you everyone know ESPN is manipulated, just like the media. Their rankings are not reliable anymore. Also we all know they do this for money. Somebody is favored I’m not even surprised. Now she (Caitlin Clark) and her fans are satisfied I guess”.
Angel Reese, who had an incredible year with standout performances and pivotal contributions to her team, felt her efforts deserved recognition as well. Her passionate reaction highlighted the ongoing debate within the WNBA community about the criteria used for awards and rankings. Many fans echoed her sentiments, pointing out that both Reese and Clark had phenomenal seasons, but the nuances of individual performance often lead to contentious discussions.
