Caitlin Clark’s Awkward Moment Turns Viral Before Indiana Fever’s First WNBA Win in 4 Games

For Caitlin Clark to miss games and be forced to watch from the sidelines isn’t normal. This is the first time in her career she’s facing a lengthy spell out. But that hasn’t stopped her from showing up to every Fever game and cheering her teammates on from the bench. Last night, as the Fever finally won a game without their superstar guard, Caitlin still managed to steal the spotlight with a funny moment that quickly went viral.
Before Tuesday’s game, the Fever were struggling were on a three-game losing streak, but they finally broke the streak with an 85-76 win over the Washington Mystics. Even though Caitlin Clark is sidelined for two weeks with a left quadriceps injury, she still found a way to bring energy and fun to Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Just minutes before Tuesday’s game, Clark was spotted playfully bouncing a ball up and down. But one bounce slipped away, sending the ball flying into the crowd and landing near a courtside fan. The WNBA Rookie of the Year star quickly moved to get it back, while her coaches and teammates looked on with smiles on their faces.
After stepping back onto the court, Clark turned to the fan with a smile and said, “Sorry.” The fun vibe at the Fieldhouse was to an extent infectious as Clark’s energy fired up the crowd. The fans stayed loud and energized right through the game, helping the Fever rally for the win.
But that moment on the court quickly went viral online, sparking plenty of fan reactions. Let’s check out some of the best takes from the fans.
Fans react to Caitlin Clark’s viral moment
Naturally, everyone loved seeing Clark’s playful side, it was a hilarious moment that caught a lot of attention. “CC so funny 😂” one fan wrote after watching the viral clip. The fact that she was seen goofing around like a kid with a small tennis ball in her hand made it even funnier.

Fans couldn’t get enough of how Clark, a superstar under pressure, looked so carefree, like she was just messing around in a backyard game. That relatability, being a kid at heart despite her fame, made the moment resonate, turning a small mishap into a viral sensation.
Another fan jumped in, joking, “Who let this kid inside?? 😭😭😭😭” This quip captured the playful shock of seeing Clark, a polished pro, act like a goofy teenager, reminding everyone she’s still just 23 and full of personality.
One fan even pointed out the heartwarming bond between Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White, writing, “You can tell CC and Steph genuinely like each other as people, and it’s the cutest thing.” There was another moment last night that went viral. It was when Clark handed White a bracelet during the game, calling it a “good luck charm” she needed. Without hesitation, Coach White put it on right away.
Of course, not all the reactions were supportive. Some fans were there to mock Clark as well. “CC has more content generated while on the sideline vs on the court 😭” they said. While the comment got laughs online, it overlooks just how strong Clark’s start to the season was before her injury. In her first four games before getting the left quadriceps injury, she was putting up impressive numbers, averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and a league-leading 9.3 assists.
While Caitlin Clark’s playful courtside moment lit up the internet, the biggest win of the night was the Fever snapping their three-game losing streak. Fans were thrilled to finally head home with something to cheer about. But they all have one question on mind, “So when is CC coming back?”
Well, Clark is scheduled for a re-evaluation on June 9, which rules her out for the upcoming game against the Chicago Sky. As for the June 10 showdown with the Atlanta Dream? It remains to be seen. One thing is for sure, one in the organization would rush her back, if she is not fully fit to play, Coach White won’t risk her!
