COLUMBIA, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Suspended South Carolina forward Ashlyn Watkins is returning to activities with South Carolina women’s basketball on Wednesday.

Watkins was charged with assault and kidnapping in August, but the charges against her have been dismissed, according to online judicial records.

After her arrest, she was suspended from the Gamecocks team and did not go to the White House with the rest of the team in September to be recognized for their national championship win.

Court records showed Watkins’ charges were dismissed Nov. 1.

Records obtained by FOX Carolina’s sister station WIS News 10 show the charge of first-degree assault was dismissed after she completed pre-trial intervention, a program for first-time offenders.

Watkins’ kidnapping charge was dropped at the discretion of the prosecutor, April Sampson.
