Frustrated Caitlin Clark slams water bottle in tense moment during Fever loss
Caitlin Clark’s MLB All-Star Game audition came a day late.
The Fever rookie sensation lost her cool and slammed a water bottle to the ground after committing a costly turnover late in the Fever’s disappointing 101-93 road loss to the Wings on Wednesday night.
Clark grabbed a water bottle from a staffer and immediately fired it to the ground before sitting down after losing the ball with the Fever trailing by four points in the final minute, with her frustration clearly showing.
The 2024 No. 1 pick said that play took away from her record-breaking night featuring 19 assists.
“The late turnover definitely kills, for sure,” Clark said.
The Fever had a chance to enter the month-long break on a three-game win streak with a victory Wednesday against the worst team in the league, but the young team failed to capitalize.
Trailing 97-93 with less than 45 seconds remaining in the contest, Clark broke the press and drove the ball to the 3-point line, but with her eyes looking ahead, Dallas’ Odyssey Sims poked the ball away from behind.

Dallas jumped on the ball to gain possession, and Clark’s anger came out during the Wings’ timeout.
ESPN showed the quick reaction before returning to the action, where the Wings made both free throws on the ensuring possession to all but secure the win.

Clark finished with six turnovers, which has been a problematic area during her rookie season.
She averages 5.6 turnovers per game.
“It’s a fine line of they were up pressuring me, so I kind of got behind them and was able to attack and then I tried to pull it out and then kind of lost my handle while being poked from behind,” Clark said of the play. “That one definitely killed. … That one’s really costly, you can’t have it.”

Even in the loss, Clark dazzled with her 19 assists to go along with 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting.
She enters the break averaging 17.1 points, 8.2 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game.
“I just try to set my teammates up for success. I think at times I can almost overpass,” Clark said. “There probably could have been a few times where instead of passing that leads to a turnover that I may have, I can probably shoot the ball. Especially with [Aliyah Boston]. I’m just looking to set her up so much. My eyes are almost always on our post players.”
