Former Chiefs Hero Takes Veiled Shot at Patrick Mahomes.

.

.

Former Chiefs playoff hero Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

who was the subject of significant ire during the 2023 season before coming up clutch in the postseason.

seemingly still hasn’t gotten over Kansas City releasing him.

Appearing on Up & Adams with Kay Adams.

Valdes-Scantling revealed that he believes Aaron Rodgers is the best QB to ever play the position.

That’d be a fine take if he hadn’t caught passes from Mahomes, especially considering he won a pair of Super Bowls with the Chiefs.

Rodgers is one of the best of all time, but there’s no legitimate argument that he’s better than Mahomes.

Valdes-Scantling may not have meant to disrespect Mahomes, though there’s no other way to take these comments.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling Calls Aaron Rodgers Better Than Patrick Mahomes.

.

“With that guy (Aaron Rodgers) you’ve always got a shot,” Valdes-Scantling said when asked about the Jets’ terrible start.

“I think he’s the best to ever play the game at the QB position.”

Rodgers has four MVPs but only one Super Bowl appearance and a long list of playoff failures.

Mahomes has three rings in significantly less time.

He’s a much better leader and if Mahomes retired today.

he’d be remembered as a better player than Rodgers ever was.

Considering Valdes-Scantling has played with Rodgers, Mahomes.

and now Josh Allen, he had a front-row seat to watch all three.

Apparently, he wasn’t watching all that closely.

In two years with the Chiefs, Valdes-Scantling caught 63 passes for 1,002 yards .

and three TDs, though his most notable contributions came in the playoffs.

He led the team in receiving during the 2022 AFC Championship matchup with the Bengals before catching the game-sealing pass against.

the Ravens last year, but suffered some poorly timed drops in the regular season prior to those heroics.

Valdes-Scantling will be remembered as a critical cog in these playoff squads.

yet comments like these could undermine some of that good will with the fans.
