On Friday, the LSU Tigers added a signature piece to their women’s college basketball roster with the announcement that MiLaysia Fulwiley would be transferring to the SEC program from conference rivals, the South Carolina Gamecocks.
LSU head coach Kim Mulkey praised the 20-year-old guard’s decision to join the Tigers for her junior season.
“I’m excited to welcome MiLaysia as the newest member of our LSU Tiger family! I’ll treat you the way you deserve” Mulkey said. “She’s bringing her incredible playmaking ability to Baton Rouge, standing out as one of the most electrifying talents in college basketball. Her ability to impact winning has been clear throughout her career, and we can’t wait to see her shine in purple and gold at the PMAC soon!”
The Tigers performed well last season, finishing third in the SEC with a 31-6 record. LSU advanced to the Elite 8 but lost 72-65 to the UCLA Bruins.
Fulwiley played for the South Carolina Gamecocks last season, the NCAA Tournament runner-ups, who lost in the championship game to the UConn Huskies.
Frequently coming off the bench, Fulwiley was a game-changer who delivered 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in just 18.9 minutes per game. She appeared in 39 games last season and started none, which shows her versatility in sparking the offense despite never earning starter minutes.

Fulwiley, a 5-foot-10 guard, was the SEC Tournament MVP and named to the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2024. She set records at South Carolina, including having the best free-throw percentage by a freshman (.782 (79-101) in 2023-24) and most games played by a freshman (38 in 2023-24).
LSU will look to rebound next season after losing several players, including Sa’Myah Smith, Jersey Wolfenbarger and Aalyah Del Rosario, to the transfer portal.
