The 75-year-old suffered a problem before Saturday’s 113-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He missed the clash, and will be out for the foreseeable future to recover.

His assistant Mitch Johnson is set to take charge of the team on an interim basis.

That will include the game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night.

It is also expected to affect the clash with the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.

The troubling news was announced by NBA insider Shams Charania on X.

“San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich suffered a health issue before Saturday’s game,” he said.

“Assistant Mitch Johnson is expected to be the interim head coach for indefinite period.”

Popovich is the most successful boss in NBA history, with five titles.

The legendary head coach joined the Spurs in 1996, and is one of the all time greats.

Assistant Johnson revealed Popovich’s status following the victory over the Timberwolves.

He told reporters he was “not feeling well.”

“This has happened before,” he added.

“I think everybody’s just always got to be ready for the next man up.

“Sometimes people get sick or don’t feel well or things come up in life.

“He’s just not feeling well.”

He refused to go into any further specifics over the health issues.

It is not the first time Popovich has suffered problems off the court.
