Matthew Tkachuk takes dig at Oilers after second straight win

The Florida Panthers made a brilliant move when they traded for Matthew Tkachuk in 2022 from the Calgary Flames.
Tkachuk has helped the Panthers reach three consecutive Stanley Cup Finals, winning the last two. After defeating the Edmonton Oilers for the second year in a row, Tkachuk is now taking a serious dig at the Oilers.
While the Calgary Flames are still waiting for Jonathan Huberdeau to return to the form he showed during his final season with the Panthers, Florida has found great success with Matthew Tkachuk.
Tkachuk didn’t just bring points to the table—scoring 254 points in 211 games—he also brought a gritty edge with his pest-like style of play.
Built a dynasty
Along with other successful acquisitions made by the Panthers, they have now built what appears to be a budding dynasty, with three straight Stanley Cup Final appearances and two championships.
Following their second Cup win on Tuesday, after defeating the Edmonton Oilers in six games, Tkachuk spoke candidly about the differences between the two teams—and he didn’t hold back.
Matthew Tkachuk takes jab at Oilers
Speaking to Sportsnet after the win, Tkachuk said the following:
“Our team was a team. When things were getting hard for them, they looked to one guy. But our team, we do it collectively. I don’t care about personal stats. I don’t care.
Our team doesn’t give a s**t about that. That’s what makes us a team, and that’s why we’re lifting the Stanley Cup right now—because we’re a team and not a bunch of individuals,” Tkachuk said, taking a jab at the Oilers.
