LSU head coach Kim Mulkey has reminded Dawn Staley that she has lost a player with outstanding playmaking abilities – after MiLaysia Fulwiley completed her transfer to the Tigers.
The highly-rated guard will join up with existing LSU stars Mikaylah Williams and Flau’jae Johnson during the next campaign, following her stunning switch. During her second campaign at Colonial Life Arena, she averaged 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 18.9 minutes per game.
The youngster posted averages of 11.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 18.4 minutes per outing during the previous season in a solid freshman year showing. Arguably one of the most in-demand names to have entered the transfer portal, she also joins Kate Koval and Amiya Joyner as part of a trio of new additions at Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
After Fulwiley completed her move to LSU coach Mulkey was on hand to welcome the starlet to the fold, as she spoke of the prospect’s inalienable talents after two impressive seasons at collegiate level. Hailing the player’s arrival, she said: “I’m excited to welcome MiLaysia as the newest member of our LSU Tiger family!
“She’s bringing her incredible playmaking ability to Baton Rouge, standing out as one of the most electrifying talents in college basketball,” before adding: “Her ability to impact winning has been clear throughout her career, and we can’t wait to see her shine in purple and gold at the PMAC soon!”
This message will also serve as a reminder to South Carolina coach Staley, who will be ruing the loss of the 20-year-old, who was named NCAA Sixth-Woman of the Year last term. Alongside this honor, she formed part of the NCAA championship-winning team of 2024, as she wrote her name into program history.

Previously, Staley spoke of the “battle” she had in terms of managing Fulwiley correctly during the last campaign, not least due to her maverick playing style. In a telling remark following the team’s clash with Coppin State in November, she admitted: “It’s a battle with [MiLaysia]. She understands. She really understands.
