During an exclusive red carpet interview with PEOPLE at the premiere of ESPN’s docuseries “The Kingdom,” Randi Mahomes, Patrick’s proud mother, couldn’t help but tease the mouthwatering menu and the excitement surrounding her son’s latest venture. Jokingly, she asked, “How do I get a reservation? I’m like, Patrick, come on.” She revealed that the Mahomes family has a private day planned to check out the venue, but the general public can look forward to the grand opening on September 17.

Randi shared, “I’m really proud. I didn’t know he would be that excited about a restaurant, but he really, really is.” She recounted how Patrick has been keeping her updated, sending photos of the restaurant’s progress and discussing the menu and drink offerings.

In July, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce shared a video of their first taste test, sampling prime steak cuts and an array of unique butter options: white truffle, chiles toreados, bone marrow, garlic, and hibiscus, along with truffle soy and chimichurri sauces. On August 18, the restaurant’s Instagram account announced the official opening date and the start of reservations. “Beginning Wednesday, August 20 at 12pm CST, you can reserve your table for opening night and beyond,” the post read, inviting guests to be among the first to experience Kansas City’s newest culinary hotspot.

The debut of 1587 Prime comes just two weeks after the NFL 2025-2026 season kicks off. The Dallas Cowboys face the Philadelphia Eagles on September 4, followed by the Kansas City Chiefs—led by Mahomes and Kelce—taking on the Los Angeles Chargers the next day.
