Kyle Richards Confirms She Was in a Relationship After Mauricio Umansky Split

Kyle Richards is finally setting the record straight about her love life following her highly publicized separation from longtime husband Mauricio Umansky.

On the December 11 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the 56-year-old reality star opened up in a candid conversation with castmate Erika Jayne, addressing months of speculation surrounding her romantic life after ending her 27-year marriage.

“I Was in a Very Vulnerable Place”

During the episode, Kyle expressed frustration over being constantly questioned about her dating status.

“Last night was fun, but I am so tired of people asking about my dating life,” she admitted.

When directly asked whether she was currently seeing anyone, Kyle was clear: she is single now. However, she went on to reveal a significant truth she had previously kept private.

“Since separating from Mo, I was in a relationship,” Kyle confirmed. “I was at a very vulnerable place in my life, and I fell hard for this person.”

Why the Relationship Stayed Private

Kyle explained that while she is naturally open and honest, the person she was seeing preferred to remain out of the spotlight — something that ultimately created tension.

“If I’m in love with somebody, I want to share that,” she said. “I don’t care. I’m an open person like that. But that doesn’t mean that the person I’m with feels the same way.”

She asked Erika what she would do in a similar situation, to which Erika replied she would protect the privacy of the other person — a stance Kyle appeared to agree with.

Gossip and Speculation Took a Toll

In a confessional, Kyle revealed that constant rumors and public scrutiny ultimately contributed to the relationship ending.

“All the speculation and the gossip and the talking is what ended it,” she explained. “I could have weathered the storm, but this is not for everyone.”

Erika defended her friend, emphasizing that going public with a relationship isn’t a one-sided decision.

“It’s not just about you,” Erika said. “There are two people here, not just one.”

A Difficult Transition After a Long Marriage

Kyle’s emotional admission highlights just how challenging the transition has been after leaving a nearly three-decade-long marriage.

“Imagine getting out of close to a 30-year marriage, unexpectedly falling in love with someone, but you can’t talk about that love,” Erika reflected. “That’s a really hard place to be.”

Although the relationship has ended, Erika suggested that the cast — and the public — will continue questioning Kyle until she fully addresses the situation.

Life After Mauricio

Kyle and Mauricio announced their separation in July 2023. The former couple share four daughters: Farrah, Alexia, Sophia, and Portia.

Following the split, fans speculated about Kyle’s close friendship with country singer Morgan Wade, but Kyle has consistently denied any romantic involvement, insisting they are just friends.

For now, Kyle says she is single — and focused on healing.

“It’s just been confusing,” she admitted. “Because you love someone very much.”
