Niecy Nash-Betts On ‘Grotesquerie’ Co-Star Travis Kelce: “He Was Very Open On If There Was A Note Given Or A Suggestion Given”
Niecy Nash-Betts is praising his Grotesquerie co-star Travis Kelce for coming onto the set and being “very open” to suggestions.
Nash-Betts stars in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series and shared scenes with the Kansas City Chiefs tightened in his acting debut.
“Travis was very open. He was very open on if there was a note given or a suggestion given. So amenable. ‘Tell me what I don’t know. Tell me what your thought is on this,’” Nash-Betts told People of Kelce. “I love that he didn’t come in trying to act like, ‘I know everything and I know it all.’”
The Scream Queens alum called Kelce “very professional” and said he “always came prepared” to the set of the thriller series.
“Listen, I love actors and I want you to win. So anything that I could do to help to be a part of helping you create, find moments, dial it in a little bit differently, I was completely there for it,” Nash-Betts added. “I just think that fans are going to find him very charming in this role.”
In a press conference for the FX series, Murphy said he wrote Kelce’s Grotesquerie specifically with the football star in mind.
“He really was amazing. He worked with an acting coach for several months. He showed up off book. He knew everybody’s lines. He was so professional. He was so committed,” Murphy said of Kelce. “He kept saying to me, ‘I’m real coachable. Coach me, coach me.’ So I did, and he ended up being a delight, and I would love to continue working with him on this and other things. I cannot say enough about him as a leader. He’s just the kindest, sweetest…everything you think about him is true.”
